We had a brainstorming class this morning with Jeannette about our research. So we done defining our research question to know if we already narrow down our research problem and research question.

Here what I have write in class about defining my research question.

1. What are your personal interests ( consider both animation and outside interests)?

i. My interest was to do 3D character in 2D environment and to learn on how to do a stop motion.
ii. I also looking towards campaign that using animation.
iii. I interested to learn on the adult behavior and reaction can reflect the kids emotion.

2. What are the key aims of your study proposal?

My key aims is to able to change on how certain animation campaign can help the children to understand the situation or message.

3. Can you summarize these aims as a concise statement?

Animation campaign that focus on adult as the audience but merely focus on children impact.

4. Can you convert the concise statement into a question?

i. How the reflection of adult on animation campaign can help the children to understand the undirect message.

ii. How the Light and Shadow animation campaign can translate the undirect messsage.

5. What other question do you need to ask to help you answer the main question?

i. Why the animation campaign sometime cannot be understand?
ii. How to touch the emotion of the audience using only SFX/Music and play with Light and Shadow?
iii. What character can attract the attention of the audience especially the kids?

My research on animation character brought me to watch The Song of The Sea byCartoon Saloon animation company. The story was about the magical creature that have a strong related with the two kids character. Even though the character is cute and suitable for kids, but I think most of the viewer of this movie was adult. Kids love the cuteness and the colourful environment of this movie but only adult can translate the message that had been given in this movie to the children.

Lotte Reineger was my favourite artist that I have done research for her work. She show that shadow theater is not difficult as we imagine by playing with her animation. She was famous in cut out animation of fairytale and how she present the character only by their shadow.
